My approach to counselling

I am a qualified, integrative, psychodynamic, person-centred counsellor.  That's quite a mouthful, it simply means that I will welcome the opportunity to listen to YOUR STORY.

Through conversation we will be curious about your past, how it has shaped you, what it has taught you, and how it has affected you.

Together we will explore your present lived experience, what you feel and think about it and those around you.

Through understanding  yourself more you can consider how the past and present can impact your future in a positive way.

My story

My journey into counselling came out of a time when I experienced significant loss and pain.  I felt lost and overwhelmed with sadness and all the changes that were taking place in my life and turned to counselling to help me make sense of what happened, and navigate the turmoil my life was in.

What I wasn't expecting, was for it to be so much more than helping me through that present difficult time. Through understanding my childhood experience, and how I was in the present, I began to recognise parts of myself that had never had a chance to thrive, and discovered a version of myself that now had an opportunity to emerge and live differently.

I found counselling so supportive and transformative, I started training as part of my recovery. It has taken time to discover who I truly am and to have the courage to live authentically.

I consider it a privilege to work with each person and walk alongside them on their own journey, the outcome is whatever road you want and choose to travel.

What is LifeWork?

LifeWork is how we live out our time on this earth, how we walk through childhood, relationships, family, and work. It’s the way our souls move through a world where there is joy, love, and laughter, yet there can also be times when we feel we do not belong, experience disappointment and heartbreak, or struggle with the changes and challenges life brings.

Sometimes life can feel messy, complicated and overwhelming — too much to face alone. In those moments, you may need someone to just listen, help you make sense of what you are experiencing, to sit alongside you for a while, and help you feel less alone with what you are carrying.

When we face challenges we never expected, and struggle to adapt as life passes through different phases, its often in those times we can come to know ourselves more deeply. With support, reflection, and healing, purpose, and change can begin to emerge. LifeWork is about helping you find meaning along the way, discover growth, connection, resilience and the strength within yourself.

Through counselling, I offer a supportive space where you can reconnect with yourself, to understand more of who you are. Together we may journey back to your past and explore how it has shaped you, we will talk about what is going on for you now in the present with the hope that what we discover will bring you more clarity, self-compassion and choice as you move forward to your future.

How I work with you

My counselling sessions are a collaborative process. We will work together to  explore your thoughts and feelings, and develop strategies to help you achieve greater emotional well-being. My aim is to journey with you as you work towards a future that is more free.

I am neurodivergent friendly, welcome LGBTQ+, and can also offer in person, online, and home visits by arrangement.

My counselling space is in Calne, in which I hope you will feel welcome, comfortable and safe.

I've not really been very good at feelings, mine or other peoples. I have found it really helpful to ask myself how I feel about something, not just what I am doing.

The time we have spend together talking has helped me through a really difficult time, after the loss of my mum.  I realise that I was holding on to a lot of unnecessary guilt, its been helpful to remember the good times we had together.

I have carried this for so long, its so good to feel free. Thank you for just listening and making me feel safe to talk about it.
